Coluzzle Review

When I first started scrapbooking I remember being very overwhelmed. There were so many scrapbook products to choose from. I went to Michael’s, a local craft supply store; with my 40% off coupon in hand I started down the scrapbook section of the store. This was not the first time here I do other crafts as well. So I asked a sales representative there what they recommended to a beginner at scrapbooking, that wasn’t going to break my budget. She recommended the ProvoCraft Coluzzle cutting system. I purchased the cutter and a shape template. Bought some scrapbook cardstock paper so I could dive right into my first scrapbook page.

Some of the advantages of the Coluzzle cutting system are that it is really affordable. I paid around 12.00 for this tool. You can find it for less now. The tool is for sale at major chain craft stores, eBay, and Amazon and scrapbook websites. I bought the Coluzzle starter kit, which included the cutting mat, the swivel knife, a heart template, and a scoring tool. I like the swivel knife, as it is easy to maneuver in the templates. ProvoCraft sells a wide variety of templates. Just a few are shapes, alphabets, tags, frames, borders, and themed kits. I like these nested templates because you have more then one-size option. I liked using the Coluzzles geometric shapes for framing my photos. It’s as easy as bringing out your cutting mat, put you paper on top, then the template and use the swivel knife to cut around your desired sized shape. I also cut my photos to fit inside the frame. You can then use scrapbook embellishments to enhance your framed photo. I also cut out different shapes and write a journal in them. I like the fact that this Coluzzle system makes everything much easier. You have a perfectly cut out shape in seconds. It doesn’t take a lot of space at your working area either. I like to do a lot of double scrapbook page layouts also called companion pages. This tool gives me the extra room for all the other scrapbook supplies I may need for my project. The Coluzzle and the templates are lightweight so you can take them to scrapbooking events, parties or classes.

A few of the disadvantages are is that you are limited to the templates that Provocraft has on the market. On the alphabet templates the letters are on the larger size. I found that you could use the letters just for titling or a monogram. You cannot use just any type of knife or tool with the templates. In my opinion I think they should sell there Coluzzle carrying case with the starter kit so you have somewhere to store the templates and make them a little easier for transporting. They could make the template more durable as they easily bend.

For the most part I do like the Coluzzle cutting system. It is perfect for beginner scrapbookers. All of the supplies that go along with this system are very affordable. You want to make scrapbooking fun and easy. This tool helps me get through my scrapbook page layouts much faster and easier. I even have my ten year old scrapbooking with me. I let her use this tool under close supervision of course. I rate this a 4.5 out of 5.

Thank you for reading this blog. I hope this review helped in your decision making process.
